Kuching: MASwings and Malaysia Airport Berhad (MAB) has launched its Joint Safety, Security, and Health Campaign at Kuching International Airport (KIA), today in an effort to educate their staff and enhancing awareness of the importance of safety and security at the workplace.
The Safety, Security and Healthy Campaign was officially launched by YB Tuan Jelaing Mersat, Deputy Minister of Transport and witnessed by Encik Sunif Naiman, Senior Airport Manager Kucing Malaysia Airports, Encik Nasip Roslan, Head of Engineering & Maintenance MASwings and Encik Zainuddin Mohamed, Regional Manager Sarawak MASwings. The main objective of this two (2) day program is to reinforce safety and security at workplace in order to avoid injuries and fatalities amongst the staff.
“As a minister in the Transport Ministry, I encourage MASwings to multiply their effort to wholly maintain their goal in executing the highest standard in safety and security performance in all possible ways, “ said YB Tuan Jelaing Mersat.
MASwings Head of Engineer, Encik Nasip Roslan said “Our close collaboration with Malaysia Airports, Department of Civil Aviation and other regulatory body is a manifestation of our commitment to provide a safe and secured environment for our staff as well as passengers”.
“We are all stakeholders in this and we have to continue to promote, educate and advocate the critical safety and capacity initiatives at all times” he added.
During this two (2) days program, there will be an exhibition by 13 exhibitors, which consists of internal and external parties including DOSH (Department of Occupational, Safety & Health), BMS (Personal Protective Equipment Suppliers), Agensi Anti Dadah Kuching, and Sarawak General Hospital. There will also be talks on Safety and Health for all staff on the second day of this program, also conducted by both internal and external party. Sarawak General Hospital is offering free house screening and Pap-smear test as one of their best approach to promote health care amongst the airlines staff and airport operators.
MASwings have always stressed on the importance of safety and has continuously enhanced its safety performance in all areas of operations. MASwings has taken various measures such as trainings, seminars and awareness programs to beef up safety and security amongst its staff.
With the recent opening of its new administration office in Miri, Twin Otter pilots can now have easy training access as the office is equipped with Twin Otter training system. Our pilots undergo periodical training to enhance their flight knowledge as well as maintaining their flight license.
Previously, MASwings has organized a Safety and Security Awareness Campaign at STOL ports area which covered Bario, Ba Kelalan, Long Banga and Long Akah to educate and create awareness amongst the rural folks. The rural communities were taught about the flight and ground safety.
“The focus will mainly be on the decentralized approach to safety and security awareness in which safety related issues and topics most relevant to the aviation industry will be addressed to the rural community” Nasip mentioned.
MASwings will continue its integrated approach and partnership with Malaysia Airports and other regulatory body to improve aviation safety and efficiency.
