Kuching: A group of 30 MASwings and Malaysia Airlines employees led by MASwings Regional Manager cleaned up the Red Bridge River (sungai merah) at Jubilee MAS Matang yesterday.
The environmental project is among one of MASwings community service project carried out for the year. Over 12 bags of rubbish were removed from the river and its surrounding area. The rubbish mostly comprising non-organic waste such as plastic bottles, aluminum cans, food packaging, and glass bottles, could be hazardous to the park if left unaddressed. In its task to preserve the environment, the rubbish was collected with biodegradable rubbish bags.
The project is aimed to make positive change in the local communities and to create awareness on the importance of such contribution to this global challenge.
MASwings Regional Manager Sarawak, Encik Zainuddin Mohamed said, “Environmental issues are global issues and we want to play our role to help conserve the environment.”
“We are focus in delivering community service projects in the areas of our operations. The environmental project is a clear demonstration of our effort to preserve the environment.” He added.
The preservation of the environment in Borneo is one of MASwings major concerns. MASwings quest begins with the introduction of the environmentally friendly ATR 72-500 aircraft.
Hence, MASwings the leader of the industry in the region will continue to lead in giving back towards the environment and community.
