MASwings New Office in Miri

Miri: MASwings today officially launched the opening of its new office in Miri, which will function as an administrative center for both local and rural air service operations.

The opening ceremony took place at the new office location and was officiated by the Managing Director of Malaysia Airlines, YM Tengku Dato’ Azmil Zahruddin. Also present at the ceremony were Managing Director of MASwings, Dato’ Mohd. Salleh Ahmad Tabrani, government officials, business partners and other local dignitaries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tengku Dato’ Azmil said, “the opening of MASwings new office is yet another initiative taken by MASwings to further reinforce its brand and presence in East Malaysia. I strongly believe that this bold step will further strengthen MASwings presence and enhance its credibility and reputation in Sarawak.”

The new office is located opposite of Miri International Airport and will house all administrative departments such sales, finance, human resources, flight operations and other supporting departments which were previously based at different locations prior to this relocation exercise. The address of MASwings new office is 106535 Airport Commercial Centre, Airport Road, 98000 Miri, Sarawak.

According to Dato’ Mohd Salleh, MASwings has embarked on office relocation exercise beginning end of last year in its effort to consolidate all operational departments under one roof to allow better coordination and closer interaction amongst MASwings staff.

He said, office relocation exercise is also meant to contain heavy rental costs incurred from the rental of several MASwings offices at different locations within Sabah and Sarawak.

“We kick start this exercise in Bintulu and Tawau at the end of last year and subsequently we will extend it to cover Miri, Kuching, Sibu and Sandakan before end of this financial year. MASwings was able to save substantially by integrating all operations at the airport as proven in the case Bintulu and Tawau operations. We were able to save as high as 13% for this exercise and this has a positive impact on our financial account” he said.

Commenting on the establishment of the new office in Miri, Dato’ Mohd Salleh believes it is imperative for MASwings to provide a conductive working environment to boost staff morale and further improve staff productivity and quality of work.

“While we aim to promote a quality work environment for all MASwings staff, we will always be conscious of cost and anything in moderation will be the prime motivation when planning and executing MASwings property development and consolidation”.

Miri new office also marked another significant record as far as branding exercise is concerned as this is the first building occupied by MASwings to apply MASwings visual identity external signage.

As of today, there is 167 staff at MASwings Miri branch of which they consist mostly of local staff. The new town office will function mainly as the administration centre and sales operation for Malaysia Airlines and MASwings.
