Kuching: MASwings Sdn Bhd today unveils the new uniform of its cabin crew and ground operations staff at a ceremony officiated by the Deputy Chief Minister Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri George Chan Hong Nam.
The new uniform exercise involved 840 frontline staff from cabin crew and ground operations department based in Sabah and Sarawak. This project was undertaken to establish MASwings as a household brand in Sabah and Sarawak.
“MASwings has been in operations since 2007 and we have grown from an airline that revived the air transportation in Sabah and Sarawak into an airline that caters to the needs and demands of our customers. Hence, it is very timely for MASwings to adopt the new uniform designs to establish our brand in the market and to create customer loyalty to the brand”, said Dato Mohd Salleh Ahmad Tabrani, Managing Director MASwings.
Dato’ Salleh added, “We want our presence and identity to be prominent within the region that we served. We aspire to deliver our promise through a brand platform which defines our ideals in service and products”.
The uniform change signifies MASwings effort in fulfilling its brand promise as a five star value carrier that provides safe, reliable and sustainable, cost efficient, affordable and comfort to the travelling public.
MASwings branding initiative started with the introduction of the ATR and having recently concluded its aircraft replacement plan with the delivery of its final 10th ATR 72-500. The uniform change is a continuation to its brand exercise with an uncompromising commitment to consistently deliver the highest standards of service excellence.
Other initiative in the pipe line is the introduction of MASwings self-service check-in kiosk which allows passengers to perform their own check-in at the airport. This service will be made available in Kuching and Kota Kinabalu airport by mid of June 2010.
Present at the ceremony were YM Tengku Dato’ Azmil Zahruddin, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Malaysia Airlines who is also the Chairman of MASwings. Also present are the Government officials, members if the travel trade and other stakeholders.
Prior to the production of the uniform, several engagements between staff, union officials, business partners as well as public were being carried out to gauge the practicality of the new uniform. Every single minute detail were taken into account as we focus on the comfort of our staff, giving it a simple look yet customer friendly whilst maintaining the traditional look of the current kebaya sarong design.
Haji Nawawi Mohamad, a supervisor at Kuching International Airport commented “The new uniform for male ground staff look contemporary and customer-friendly as it has done away with neck-ties, epaulette and blazers and replaced with short sleeves which are more comfortable and practical for our daily operations”.
Siti Sarah, MASwings customer services agent said “The new uniform gives a fresh new look and modern in design and colour. It is rejuvenating and we all wore it with a renewed spirit”.
