MASwings Celebrates Christmas with Children with Special Needs

Kuching (23 December 2009): MASwings celebrated Christmas with a group of 40 special children at the Sarawak Autistic Association yesterday.

Led by Miss Melissa Crocker, Corporate Communications representative, the group of 10 employees brought Christmas cheer to the children, aged between 3 to 18 years by setting up Christmas decoration at the centre.

The children were also feted with breakfast served in MASwings meal box and entertained by Santa Claus as they received their Christmas presents.

Prior to the event, MASwings has collaborated with the International Women’s Association by collecting toys as Christmas presents for its community outreach program at a charity high tea in Kuala Lumpur recently.

MASwings community outreach started with the introduction of ‘The Wings of Children’ program catered for children from rural areas in need of medical attention by flying them for free to stations like Kuching and Miri where specialist treatments are available.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak Autistic centre has 43 children under its care and teaching at the centre is on a one to one basis. Autism is a developmental disability due to a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain. Children with autism are generally hyperactive with little or no speech and attention deficit.
