MASWINGS CABIN STAFF GRADUATION

Kota Kinabalu: A group of 10 Sabahan graduated today as MASwings cabin crew after completing three month of intensive training. This is the second batch of MASwings cabin crew recruited since the recruitment of its pioneer batch in August 2007. 

With the inclusion of the new batch, MASwings’ crew strength increased to 75 and out of this number 32 are based in Kota KInabalu, 20 in Miri and 23 in Kuching.

They received their certificate today from MASwings’ Managing Director, Mohd Salleh Ahmad Tabrani at a graduation ceremony attended by graduates, their parents and MASwings’ officials.

In his address to the graduates, Mohd Salleh said the recruitment of the new batch is part of MASwings’ effort to offer job opportunity to locals in Sabah and Sarawak.

All the new sets of MASwings cabin crews are multi ethnics from Sabah and Sarawak.  Their background covers ethnics from Murut, Kadazan, Dusun, Iban, Bidayuh as well as Chinese and Malays. MASwings has always prioritised in offering job opportunities for the locals in Sabah and Sarawak. 

This recruitment is essential in order to support MASwings ATR fleet expansion. Currently, MASwings is operating with 6 ATR and will be receiving its 7th ATR in December 2009 while the last batch of delivery will be in April 2010 where MASwings will operate will all 10 ATR.

Prior to their official duty, the cabin staff has undergone 3 month of extensive trainings which covers grooming and deportment, aviation, voice enrichment, communication skills, ATR familiarisation, security and awareness, first aid, safety and emergency procedure, hospitality, ATR service procedures and cabin crew policies. 

MASwings has also recently introduced knowledge enhancement training for its cabin crew on tourism product conducted by both Sabah Tourism Board and Sarawak Tourism Board.  With the product enrichment, MASwings cabin crew will be more equipped with product knowledge to supply for our customers as we strive to provide excellent service in line with its vision to be a Five Star value carrier.

“I have learnt so many new things during the training. It has been an enriching experience for me and my fellow colleagues. I am excited and I can’t wait to start flying.  My family is very proud of me joining MASwings,” said 21 years old, Verone Lansul a Murut from Keningau Sabah.

Azahar Awang Chee, said “I am grateful and proud to be able to work for MASwings. It has always been my dream to work as a cabin crew and I will perform my duties to my best level”.

On his remarks Mohd Salleh said service industry is associated with human relations and therefore we must always be proactive to serve the various needs of our customers to the best of our ability. As ambassadors of MASwings, I expect MASwings crew to deliver 5 star service deliveries as what we are renowned for in MAS and MASwings”. 

MASwings commenced its operations on October 1 2007, offers 900 weekly flights, which serves a network of 22 destinations in Sarawak and Sabah as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan. It currently has a fleet of 5 Fokker 50, 4 Twin Otter aircraft and 6 ATR72.
