MASwings Deliveres Wheelchairs And First Aid Kits To Rural Airports

Miri: MASwings Managing Director, Mohd Salleh Tabrani handovers wheelchairs, first aid kits and uniforms to Ground Handling Agents (GHA) at an official ceremony held in Miri today.

A total of 9 wheelchairs and 10 first aid kits were given to MASwings ground handling agents at rural airports. Amongst the station receiving the wheelchairs and first aid kits are Long Banga, Long Akah, Long Lelang, Marudi, Bario, Bakelalan, Long Seridan, Mukah and Lawas.

Apart from strengthening community ties through reliable and regular services, MASwings will also endeavour to keep up with its aspiration to contribute to the quality of life in the community of its operations.  The wheelchairs provided will be able to offer convenience to the older folks at rural areas requiring the services. With this additional facility, the community at rural areas will be able to receive same service offerings at larger airports.

MASwings Managing Director Mohd Salleh Tabrani said, “Although we are focused in meeting the air travel needs of Sabah and Sarawak, we are also mindful of the need to provide convenient and comfort to our passengers”.

Earlier today, MASwings organised Dangerous Goods Awareness training to all its GHA as a continuation effort of its Safety and Security adoption early this year.  The Safety and Security is a whole year initiative carried out in line with our commitment in making safety our priority in every corner of our operations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Salleh mentioned that the “ Ongoing effort to upgrade the knowledge and skills of our ground handling agents is part of the learning culture which we want to instil as we progress towards fulfilling our obligation to provide safe and reliable services to the people of Sabah and Sarawak”.

On a separate event, the Managing Director MASwings, Mohd Salleh Tabrani also organised a pep talk for 23 graduates who will be absorb by MASwings under the Capacity Graduate Program.  This program is responded by MASwings to support the call from Sarawak Human Resource Management, under the Sarawak Government’s initiative to develop soft skills amongst graduates in preparation of SCORE.  SCORE is said to create 1.5-million job opportunity by the year 2020.   The Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) is the country’s major infrastructure project and is one of the five corridor development projects under the Malaysia Ninth Plan (RMK9).

“MASwings is also working together with the State Government of Sarawak in providing learning opportunity for about 42 unemployed graduates under the special attachment scheme”, Salleh said. “ We will impart to them maximum knowledge and experience to condition them to undertake challenging tasks after this attachment program”, he added.

MASwings has also extended to support the state government’s call is to mount direct service from Kuching to Tanjung Manis in April last year in support of SCORE.
