Kuching: MASwings today launches its In-Flight Entertainment system made available on the ATR 72-500 series aircraft. The launch was held at Sarawak Tourism Board office, which signifies the collaboration between the airline and the tourism body in promoting Sarawak as an ultimate destination and MASwings as a preferred airline.
The ATR 72 is equipped with 20 LCD coloured screens spread throughout the cabin. The LCD video screens are spaced every two-seat row along both sides of the passenger cabin. The TV screens operate on a drop down mechanism, which does not require earphones as the audio comes through the overhead speakers.
The IFE facility will be able to enhance MASwings in-flight entertainment service. The IFE can also be a tool to provide information to the traveling public.
Present at the press conference is Sarawak Tourism Board Marketing Manager, Mary Wan Mering and Regional Manager MASwings Sarawak, Haji Mohamed Suffian Abdul Malik.
“By show casing our destination video on board MASwings ATR, we will be able to provide information as well as to create awareness on our destination offerings to both local and international tourists,” said Mary Wan Mering, Marketing Manager Sarawak.
The Regional Manager MASwings, Encik Suffian Malik said “We are glad to be able to collaborate with Sarawak Tourism Board to promote Sarawak in line with our promise delivery to connect the world to Sarawak and Sabah.
Currently, MASwings is operating with four ATR aircraft and will receive its fifth ATR in September this year. MASwings ATR network serves 11 towns and cities within and between Sarawak and Sabah. Serving more than 504 flights a week on 14 routes.
Meanwhile, the IFE launch in Sabah was also carried out simultaneously today at Sabah Tourism Board office. Present for the launch is the General Manager Sabah Tourism Board, Mr Gordon Yap and Regional Manager Sabah, Encik Shauqi Ahmad.
Similar preview on Sabah Tourism destination footage will also be aired on all MASwings ATR flights effective today.

MASwings commenced its operations on October 1 2007, offers 700 weekly flights, which serves a network of 22 destinations in Sarawak and Sabah as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan. It currently has a fleet of 7 Fokker 50, 4 Twin Otter aircraft and 4 ATR72.
