MASwings declared 2009 safety and security year

Miri: MASwings has declared 2009 as a safety and security year for the Airline.

This was disclosed by Mohamad Salleh Ahmad Tabrani, Managing Director MASwings at the closure of the Safety and Security Seminar organized by MASwings in Miri from 12 February until 13 February 2009.

“Safety and security is a natural, clear, present and future priority for all of us in MASwings. It is one of the utmost important pillars on which we build our business reputation. It is our duty therefore, to integrate efficient, high quality and the safest of environment for our customers.

Therefore in the year 2009, MASwings will focus on these areas to ensure MASwings achieves the high standards in safety, quality and security in all phases of our operations” he said.  

Mohamad Salleh also disclosed MASwings has recently launch the Corporate Safety, Quality and Security Policy Statement to reinforce its commitment in providing highest standard of safety, quality and security with due care for the environment. Central to this, MASwings will adopt “Safety First” policy in accordance with the legal requirements and industry best practice.

Mohamad Salleh who took over the position of Managing Director effective 1st November 2008 was in Miri to participate in the seminar attended by more than 40 participants including MASwings’ ground handling agents, representatives from Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), Malaysia Airport Berhad (MAB) and other regulatory bodies as well as officials from both Malaysia Airlines and MASwings. 

Throughout the two-day event, participants were able to share information and best practices on key safety and security areas, learn new knowledge, share current experience and refreshing lessons. The seminar also serves as a good platform for participants to forge new networking and interactions.

Salleh also thanked the regulators and business partners for their efforts in ensuring safety and security aspect remained main priority in the aviation industry.

“MASwings would like to call on Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), Malaysia Airport Berhad (MAB) and other stakeholders to reinforce partnership, assess our respective roles, obligation and contribution towards ensuring the highest possible level of aviation security, through a collective effort. Even though our interests differ slightly from one another, safety is indeed everybody’s business” he said.
