MASwings Celebrates Christmas With Inpatient Children
Kuching (26 December 2008): MASwings brought Christmas cheer to a group of 30 inpatient children at the Sarawak General Hospital Oncology Ward today.
The event was witnessed by Puan Nancy Serimathi, Social Worker of Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society and Encik Shauqi Ahmad, Head of Corporate Services MASwings.
A group of MASwings employees feted the children, aged between 2 to 14 to a morning of Christmas mood with Santa Claus, breakfast, Christmas gifts comprising toys and cash donations donated by MASwings employee. The airline earlier rolled out a “Thoughts for Tots Donation Drive”, calling for donation from the employees in conjunction with this season for giving. The breakfast was special as this is the first time that the children were served meal boxes offered on MASwings' flights.
"We are glad to be able to extend our Friendly Hospitality to the children in conjunction with the Christmas season. It's heartening to see the interaction between the staff and children, and we hope that this visit have brought much cheer to them," said Shauqi.
“MASwings involvement in giving to the community is a continuous effort and is always looking ways to contribute to the communities in which it operates,” he added.
MASwings has also introduced a program ‘The Wings of Children’ for children from rural areas in need of medical attention by flying them for free to stations like Kuching and Miri where specialist treatment are available.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak Children ‘s Cancer Society has 30 children under its care and is a non-profitable voluntary organization whose mission is to provide relief and care to children with cancer and their families.
