MASwings launched non-stop flight from Miri to Ba’kelalan at Ba’kelalan Apple Fiesta
Ba’kelalan: MASwings today launched its first non stop flight from Miri to Ba’kelalan at the opening of Ba’kelalan Apple Fiesta.
The flight, which had taken off from Miri at 8am in the morning, arrived here in Ba’kelalan at 8.55am, marked the launching of MASwings non-stop flight to Ba’kelalan.
The inaugural flight was officiated by Deputy Tourism Minister YB Hj Hamden Hj Ahmad, at the opening of the 3-Days long Ba’kelalan Apple Fiesta. Also present at the ceremony were ADUN Ba’kelalan YB Nelson Balang Rining, MASwings General Manager Operations En. Wan Abdul Rahim, MP Bukit Mas YB Henry Sum Agong and State Director Tourism Malaysia Sarawak En. Zuraimi Abdul Razak.
Speaking on the occasion, MASwings General Manager Operations En. Wan Abdul Rahim said, “ MASwings is committed to you. Our objective has been, and always will be, to provide reliable, safe and affordable travel, linking communities in Sarawak to the major cities in Malaysia and the world.”
“The launch of this non-stop flight from Miri to Ba’kelalan is part of our effort to ensure increased connectivity and convenience for the community and delivering our promise to connect the world to Sarawak.” he added.
Deputy Tourism Minister YB Hj Hamden Hj Ahmad, expressing his happiness over the start of the non-stop flight, described it as an encouraging development. This will not only help to provide better convenience for the local traveling community but also help to boost the tourism in Ba’kelalan.
The non-stop flight from Miri to Ba’kelalan operates once a week, on every Wednesday. In addition, the twice weekly flight from Miri to Ba’kelalan via Lawas will remain in operation.
MASwings commenced its operations on October 1 2007, offers 451 weekly flights, which serves a network of 21 destinations in Sarawak and Sabah as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan. It currently has a fleet of 7 Fokker 50 and 5 Twin Otter aircraft.
