Kuching: It was a fun and excitement filled day for 12 SPM High achievers who enjoyed a free trip from Kuching to Bintulu, courtesy of MASwings, which was celebrating its milestone achievement of hitting the 250,000th passenger mark.
In just 5 months since its launch in October 2007, MASwings has helped revitalized the local economy and tourism industry while strengthening community ties through reliable and regular services in Sabah and Sarawak.
MASwings Managing Director, Dr. Amin Khan said, “It has been an exciting 5 months. Everyone especially the state Governments have been so supportive. The warm reception given by the local communities and many of our customers is nothing short than amazing. To all of you, thank you.
“MASwings is committed to you. Our community outreach started last year with the Wings for Children programme, and we will soon be offering new destinations and increased flight frequency. We will also start flying new ATR planes which promises a better travel experience come August 2008. We are very single-minded in our purpose to serve you, and connect the world to Sabah and Sarawak.”
To celebrate the 250,000th customer milestone, MASwings feted the lucky passenger, Ms. Nurfarizan Rosli from Bintulu with a complimentary ticket from Bintulu to Kota Kinabalu.
Joining the celebrations at the Kuching airport were 12 orphans, who have just passed their SPM examination with flying colours, from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Negeri Sarawak. For many of them, the flight to Bintulu is a trip long awaited for, and their first time ever on a plane.
On hand to launch the celebrations at the airport and to send the orphans off for their first flight is Y.B Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, Minister of Urban Development and Tourism.
